Verdon F. Henrikson, age 87, of Isanti passed away July 7, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Verdon Frank Henrikson was born January 18, 1920 in Bethel Township, Anoka County, to Frank and Signa Henrikson. He was raised in Bethel Township and attended Lone Elm School in Cedar. Verdon served in the Navy during World War II from December 15, 1941 to December 20, 1945. He was serving on the aircraft carrier WASP when it was sunk on September 15, 1942. After his military service he lived in Minneapolis. On October 4, 1947 he married Donna Lindell and they made their home in Minneapolis until 1954 when they moved to the Isanti area. After retiring in 1980 they moved to McGregor until moving back to Isanti in 2005. Verdon was a member of the American Legion Post 290 in Cambridge and he was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2747 in McGregor. He was an avid reader and he also enjoyed playing horseshoe, hunting and fishing. In younger years he also enjoyed dancing.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Verna, Doris and Janet; by 2 brothers, Curtis and Sherman (Rusty). He is survived by his wife, Donna of Isanti; 4 children, Victoria (Charles) Childs of Annandale, V. Stephen (Dianne) Henrikson of Longmont, Colorado, Melonni Schantzen of Coon Rapids; Monica (Ron) Ramstorf of Brooklyn Park; 6 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Carl Bud (Donna) Henrikson of Ham Lake; 2 sisters, Bernice Neumann of Zimmerman, Hjordis Dillard of California; and by many other relatives and friends.
