Myra E. Larson, age 94, of Isanti passed away December 19, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 22nd at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 21st at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and 1 hour prior to the funeral Saturday at the church.
Myra Eleanor Larson was born November 6, 1913 in Kremlin, Montana to Melvin and Mollie Sorenson. When she was 4 years old her family moved to Grygla, Minnesota where she would live several years. In December 1937 she married Ralph Monroe. They owned and operated a Hardware Store/Service Station in Grygla. Her husband, Ralph, died in 1941. On June 10, 1944 she married Arnold Larson and they continued to operate the store. Myra was always very active in her church. In Grygla she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served in many different capacities. In 1965 they moved to Aurora where she was active in church and also volunteered in the nursing home and worked with 4-H. Myra and Arnold moved to Isanti in 1988 and they joined Faith Lutheran Church where she was again a very active member. Her husband, Arnold, died shortly after moving to Isanti. Myra enjoyed being a mother. She and her children would do plays, do characters and had fun with imagination and pretending. In later years she especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren. Her other interests included music, she was a self-taught pianist and organist, she enjoyed dancing, reading novels, crocheting, knitting, quilting, going to the lake and fishing.
Myra Larson passed away December 19, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 13 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph and Arnold; sisters, Katherine Moranand Inez Dugan; brother, Myron “Jack”; sisters-in-law, Arlyn Sorenson and Pat Sorenson; and brothers-in-law, Clayton Moran, Jerry Duganand Norman Newton.
Myra will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Marlys (Craig) Barr of Isanti, Joy (Roy) Nordby of Grygla; son, Dean (Joan) Larson of Isanti; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Newton of Grygla; two brothers, Raymond Sorenson of Thief River Falls, Wilford “Bud” (Irene) Sorenson of Lindstrom; and by many other relatives and friends.
