Rudolph J. Ramstad, age 79, of Zimmerman passed away December 19, 2007 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 21st at Long Lake Lutheran Church with Pastor Howard Skulstad officiating. A time of visiting will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Long Lake Community Cemetery.
Rudolph Jerome Ramstad was born April 29, 1928 in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota to Carl and Celia Ramstad. His family moved to Thief River Falls where he was raised and lived his early years. On June 24, 1948 he married Patricia Anderson and they made their home on a farm in rural St. Francis for several years. Rudy was employed by Horner Waldorf Champion Paper until retiring. He was a member of Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural Isanti. Rudy loved country music and playing his guitar and singing with his children. He also enjoyed hobby farming, tinkering with his tractors, horses, wearing his cowboy hat and visiting with his neighbors.
Rudy passed away on December 19, 2007 at his home in Zimmerman at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 20 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 granddaughters, Theresa Peterson, Janet and Jeane Ramstad; by 3 brothers; and by 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; 6 children, Georgia (Harvey) Peterson of Mora, Richard (Cyndi) Ramstad of Arden Hills, Cheryl (Kirk) Gordon of Stanchfield, Roger Ramstad of Minneapolis, Kristen (Kevin) Eakman of Zimmerman, Robert Ramstad of Princeton; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Delores Holmes of Minneapolis; 2 brothers, Burton (Marcia) Ramstad of Mounds View, Orrin (Marcia) Ramstad of Bloomington; and by many other relatives and friends.
