Margit was employed by the St. Francis School District for the last 20 years. She was very family orientated. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and planning the yearly family reunions. Margit was strong in her faith and she was a caregiver and teacher. She gave her children the freedom to be themselves and she respected their decisions and was always there for them. Margit also enjoyed traveling and planning their trips, fishing and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Lorenz Hansel of Isanti; 3 children, Tamara (Troy) Strecker of East Bethel, Melanie (Shaun) Murray of Hazelwood, Missouri, Joel (Michele) Hansel of Isanti; 7 grandchildren, Elise, Lily, Meagan, Evan, KeOntay, Damian and Madison; mother, Lillie O’Hotto of Isanti; brother, Tom (Bonnie) O’Hotto of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.
Margit was preceded in death by her father.
I just read an email from Nancy Wallace at Lifelong Learning Center that Margit had passed away. She was the classroom assistant when I was a participant at ECFE with my daughter who is now 21. However, she made a huge impact on me as a loving, dedicated person. Since that date, I now also work in ISD 15 and have felt it an honor to have known Margit in a professional and personal way. To think of her as gone from this earth is very difficult. She was just too young for this…… My prayers are with your family during this very difficult time.
Hansel Family – I was shocked to hear of Margit’s illness and passing. I help at LLC for screenings and also work at EBCS. At the last screening I knew Margit was not there but did not know of her illness. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a very friendly person and I know she will be missed. I am thinking of you and pray for your family to cherish the memories and love she gave to you.
Dear Tammy, Melanie and Joel,
Karl called today to say that he saw your mom’s obituary in the paper. I’m so, terribly sorry for your loss. Children are NOT supposed to lose their parents in their 50’s. I’m sure you’ll miss your mom, as much as I miss my dad. My thoughts are with you and your kids. Your mom was such a nice lady. Very funny and cheerful. Things will get better as time seems to go on. The farther we get away from our loss the less it seems to permeate our thoughts. You never forget, but over time the pain isn’t quite as strong. Blessings, Kalee
