M. Dean Ellingson, age 83, of Cambridge passed away July 2, 2008 at Mercy Hosptial in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 7th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 6th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the service.
Milton Dean Ellingson was born March 21, 1928 in Isanti to Milton and Nora Ellingson. Dean was raised in Isanti and attended District 45 School. He served in the Army during World War II. After the service he came back to Isanti. Dean married Dorothy Johanson on August 30, 1947. They made their home in Isanti until moving to Cambridge 12 years ago. He worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal a few years and was employed as a block layer for most of his working years and he also hobby farmed. Dean and Dorothy wintered in Arizona for over 30 years and he was a member of a VFW Post in Arizona. Dean also enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing.
Dean passed away on July 2, 2008 in Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 11 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lucille, Charlotte and Kathryn; and by 1 brother, Lee. Dean is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Cambridge; son, Michael (Jean) Ellingson of Brook Park; daughter, Joni (Keith) McCullough of Kingman, Arizona; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends.
