Kim Sue Wanous was born in 1960 to Herbert & Carol Sprandel in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She spent most of her life in the twin cities area and relocated to the Cambridge area in July of 2007.
Kim was an excellent cook and food service was in her blood. She was also an avid gardener and loved canning her all the treasures from her garden or an early morning trip to the Farmer’s Market. Kim was always excited to try a new recipe or spring a new dish on her family. Even though she was an excellent cook she worked most of her life in the fast food business’ mostly the Subway Stores in the Twin Cities Area. Most recently she worked at the Quizno’s in Cambridge. If it involved food Kim was there with a dish in hand.
Kim loved her children with all her heart, and was always excited to see her nieces and nephews. Kim also had a soft spot for the four legged critters and quickly took in any creature her children brought home. Last count was 2 dogs, 5 cats and a new litter of new kittens.
Kim was especially proud and happy of her renewed faith in Jesus and was an active member of Stanchfield Baptist Church. She especially loved cooking for the men’s breakfast group. She also met “the man of her dreams” Gregg Anderson in Cambridge and was very happy with her life in Cambridge.
Kimberly Sue Wanous died peacefully on August 21, 2008 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 48 years, 4 months and 10 days. She was surrounded by Family and friends. Kim was preceded in death by her parents, a newborn sister, and her grandparents.
Kim is survived by her three children, Andrew Thompson of St. Paul, Emma and Dana Wanous of Cambridge, two brothers, Russ Sprandel (Tim Wells) of Cannon Falls, MN, Corey Sprandel of Cambridge, three sisters, Kelly (Steve) Lange of Roseville, Teri Harvey (LeRoy Benge) of Lacona, Iowa, and Gayle (Pat) Linn of St. Paul. She also is survived by her Nieces and Nephews, Michael, Hannah, and Matthew Sprandel, Michael and Patrick Lange, Nicole (Gary) Holman, Adam, Jessie and William Linn, and Ricky (Jamie) Harvey.

Kimmy, your were always the life of the party and the hostess with the mostes. There was never a dull moment with you in the room. We have been through a lot you and me and I never stopped loving you. I will miss your laugh (even as LOUD as it was), and that little twinkle in your eye that always told me you were up to something. I know you think I didn’t notice, but I always new what you were doing. I know I will miss you forever but I also know that you are in heaven with Mom and Dad, (well I am sure you are all together anyway) KIDDING! Say Hi to everyone for me and save some nice cars for me, try not to wreck them all before I get there. I love you. Rusty

Kim, you left us too soon, but now you are home, again, with your mom & dad. One day, we will all be together! I’ll be thinking of the days, long ago, when we were kids at Grandma’s house, playing in the back yard. Funny how we all seemed to fit in her tiny house. All of us were there~~you, me, our brothers, your sister, our parents and assorted aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those were the days!
We love you!

Kim,
Thank you for being an important part of my life! I truly love all my cousins, but you always made me feel special. You always spoke about how thrilled you were because in 1969 you were 9 years old and I was your big old 21 year old cousin and I took you for a ride in my new Chevy. It made me feel happy that you were so thrilled about it. When we last spoke on the phone last February, you mentioned that ride again. I am so glad that we also had a chance to talk at Twink’s wedding. When you left we said good-bye to each other and we hugged. I had no idea that it would be our last hug. Say hi to your mom and dad for me. I miss them a lot. Also, if you see “Uncle Bob” let him know how much we all miss and love him.
I love you and will never forget you!!!
Love,
Butch
