Alonzo Blair, age 87, of Isanti passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29th at Spirit and Praise Pentecostal Church, 5521 E. Viking Blvd, in Wyoming with Pastor Michael Waddle and Pastor Don Waddle officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Sunday, September 28that the church. Interment will be in Wyoming Methodist Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Forest Lake American Legion.
Alonzo Blair was born December 20, 1920 at Gilbert, West Virginia to Dorse and Emozettie (Blankenship) Blair. He was raised in War Eagle, West Virginia. Alonzo served his country during WWII with the 436th fighter squadron of the 8th Air Force. He was honorably discharged on February 17, 1947 and four months later on July 17th he married Louise Mounts in Pikeville, Kentucky. They lived in West Virginia, Virginia and then in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Isanti, Minnesota in 1978. Alonzo worked as a machinist at Ceco Steel for 13 years. He also worked in maintenance at the St. Francis school district and then at Anoka-Hennepin schools. Alonzo enjoyed working on their farm as well as going fishing.
Alonzo Blair passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at his home at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Willie and Johnny, and sisters, Mildred Moyer and Leona Sloan.
Alonzo will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Louise, and by other relatives and friends.
