Edna Collin, age 87, of Isanti passed away February 1, 2009 at the Villiages of North Branch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 6th at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. A visiation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 5th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Interment will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery.
Edna Marie Collin was born July 8, 1921 in Athens Township, rural Isanti, to Victor and Josephine Erickson. She was raised in Athens and attended District School #21. On October 29, 1944 Edna married Laurence Collin and they have always made their home in Athens Township. She had been an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti over the years, even when the church was in Athens Township. Edna was involved in the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis and enjoyed hosting guests from Sweden. She enjoyed having children around her and teaching them. Edna was a naturalist and was very aware of organic and wanted everything pure. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and beingoutdoors.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary (Marie) Hubonette-Mishler; son-in-law, William Mishler; two brothers, Ralph and Wilbert Erickson; and one sister, Vivian Bates.
She is survived by her husband, Laurence Collin of Isanti; daughter, Carol (Michael) Kruse of Cambridge; son, David Collin of Isanti; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette (Kenneth) Miller of Wisconsin, Delores (Walter) Styer of Buffalo; sister-in-law, Marcy Erickson of Minneapolis; and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
