Verne Anderson, age 78, of Isanti died on February 24, 2009 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28th at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti with Pastors Ryan O’Leary and Peter Talbot officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28th at the church.
Verne Robert Anderson was born July 27, 1930 at Opstead, Minnesota to Eric and Hulda Anderson. He was raised in the Opstead community and graduated from Isle High School. Verne joined the Army Reserves and would serve in the Reserves for 22 years, retiring from the Reserves on September 14, 1992. Verne began working as a carpenter in the Twin Cities with his father. On March 9, 1957 he married Carol Schultz in Brainerd. They made their home in Brainerd for two years and then moved to Crystal for eight years. In 1967 they moved to Isanti where they have since made their home. Verne worked as a carpenter for most of his working years and they also owned and operated a grocery store in Isanti for a period of time. Verne was an active member of Elim Baptist Church in Isanti. They enjoyed camping and belonged to a Christian Camping Group. Besides his family and all of the family activities, Verne enjoyed hunting with his son, fishing and woodworking. The past eight years they have wintered in Avon Park, Florida.
Verne Anderson passed away February 24, 2009 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a short illness. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Grace.
Verne is survived by his dear wife, Carol, of 51 years; son, Greg (Jeanette) Anderson of Eagan; two daughters, Kari (Dale) Shortell of Coon Rapids, and Deanna (Jon) Dunbar of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Kim), Cassie, Kelli, Lindsey, Mitch, Joe and Pete; two brothers, Ward (Virginia) Anderson of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Jim (Laneda) Anderson of Brainerd; and by many other relatives and friends.

Dad, I am so blessed to have had you as my father. You showed me how to treat others with love and respect. You never wavered in your values, morally or spiritually. I love you and miss you but am looking forward to that day when we get to meet again.
