Fillmore Olson, age 80, of Isanti died May 13, 2009 at Cambridge Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 20th at St. John Lutheran Church in Weber with Rev. Kevin Zellers officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Weber.
Fillmore John Olson was born February 28, 1929 in the Blomford Community to Ador and Regina Olson. He was raised in Isanti County and graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1947. Fillmore served in the Army from 1951 1953. On June 12, 1952 he married Phyllis Splettstoeszer at St. John Lutheran Church in Weber. They made their first home in Washington State. After his military service they moved to North Branch, later to Braham and then in 1967 they moved to Isanti. Fillmore was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Weber and the Isanti Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He especially enjoyed helping the fire department during Isanti Rodeo Days every summer. He was employed by Cambridge Launderers and Cleaners for several years. Fillmore enjoyed the family activities and traveling with the family. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and going to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Fillmore was also a Minnesota Twins baseball fan.
Fillmore passed away on May 13, 2009 at the Cambridge Medical center at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 15 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Bennett and by one sister, Eileen.
Fillmore is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Isanti; five children, Leslie (Dan) Anderson of Isanti, Michele (Robert) Moench of Eagan, Gayle (Donovan) Erickson of Stanchfield, Tom (Lori) Olson of North Branch, Ted (Brenda) Olson of Champlin; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Molly, Geoffrey, Bethany, Peter, Kelsey, Paul, Lindsey, Rachel and Mallory; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Caroline Peterson of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.
