In Memory of Robert Jones, Sr.

Robert Jones Sr, age 84, of Pequot Lakes passed away September 2, 2009 at Heritage House in Pequot Lakes. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 4th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Chaplain Greg Spofford officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until the service Friday at our Isanti Chapel. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abby West Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.

Robert Malcolm Jones, Sr. was born August 21, 1925 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Malcolm and Evelyn Jones. His family moved to Morris, Minnesota where he was raised and attended school. In December of 1947 he married Dorothy Snyder. They made their first home in Junction City, Kansas. They later moved back to Morris and then to the Minneapolis area where they lived for several years. In 1977 he moved to Georgia until 2008 when he came to the Cambridge area. Robert recently moved to Pequot Lakes. He enjoyed doing his yard work, hunting and fishing.

Robert passed away at his home, Heritage House of Pequot Lakes, Upper Lodge, on September 2, 2009 at the age of 84 years and 12 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; infant daughter, Sharon Kay; three sisters, Dorothy Hale, Joyce Peterson, Marjorie Long; and by one brother, Jack Jones.

Robert is survived by four sons, Robert, Jr. (Sherri) of Isanti, Richard (Judy) of Cedar, James of Midway, Georgia, John (Linda) of Statesboro, Georgia; four daughters, Leila (Dennis) Yaggy of Cambridge, Donna Ferguson of Oklahoma, Bonnie (Danny) Morgan of Savannah, Georgia, Diana Lynn of Atlanta, Georgia; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Jones of Norfolk, Virginia, Roger (Darlene) Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Barbara Hogsbach of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and by other relatives and friends.
