Dolores Broddy, age 91, of Cambridge died December 29, 2009 at Cambridge Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at South Isanti Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, January 1st at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
Dolores Mathilda Broddy was born on July 24, 1918 to Herman and Ruth Gallmeier in St. Paul, Minnesota. When she was four years old her family moved to a farm near Dalbo, Minnesota, where she attended school and graduated from Ogilvie High School. After high school, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis.
She married Bertil Broddy on April 9, 1944. To this union four daughters and one son were born. She was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked for Isanti Repackaging Plant, The Isanti Creamery, The Cambridge Dairy and Johnson Carpet and Drapery. But most of her energy went into raising their children.
Dolores liked to sew, crochet and knit. She made many quilts for her daughters and grandchildren. She also sewed clothes for her daughters. She was a member of South Isanti Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Secretary and active in W.M.S.
Dolores M. Broddy died on December 29, 2009 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 5 days. Besides her parents Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Bertil of 65 years; infant son, Mark, and two brothers; Bill and Jim.
She is survived by four daughters, Janet (Paul) Bostrom, Kathryn (Dennis) Lodin, Bonnie (Steven) Mettling and Deanna Mettling; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters; Velma Brinker, Leila Barnes, one brother; Jack Gallmeier and one sister-in-law; June Gallmeier, and many other relatives and friends.
