Theodore Steven Kowalzek, age 70, of Ham Lake died December 31, 2009 at his home. A time for visiting will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 5th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 6th also at our Cambridge Chapel with Father David Blume officiating.
Theodore Steven Kowalzek was born on the family farm July 11, 1939 in Harding, Minnesota to Steven and Christine (Brisk) Kowalzek. He was raised in Harding, the oldest of 16 children. Theodore has made his home in the Ham Lake area since 1972. He loved John Deere Tractors and participated in several tractor pulls. He often helped others with whatever he could. Theodore also enjoyed western movies and especially those with John Wayne.
He is survived by his mom, Christine of Pierz; five daughters, Deborah Kowalzek of Brainerd, Marie (Chris) Kinsey of East Bethel, Missy Kowalzek (Bob) of Fort Ripley, Carol Mattson (Doug) of Brainerd, Julie (Tom) Ableman of Ham Lake; three sons, Theodore Kowalzek Jr of Texas, Andrew Kowalzek of Texas, Corey Kowalzek of Texas; seven sisters, Roseann (Jim) Reifsteck, Shirley (Arnie) Zapzalka, Pat Bourne, Maryls (Lester) Petry, Barb (Les) Luukkeon, Nick (Duane) Eggert, Jane (Herman) Pienie; four brothers, Tom Kowalzek, Jerry (Sandy) Kowalzek, Paul Kowalzek, Steven Kowalzek; 16 grandchildren, Denise, Matthew, Joshua, Sandy, Amy (Karl), Jessica, Jenny, Tiffany, Brandy, Michael, Ryan, Jr., Amanda, Aaron, Brady and Katie; 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Star, Alexis, Connor, Kohlton and Skyler; and by other relatives and friends.
Theodore was preceded in death by his father, Steven; step-daughter, Laurie; brothers, Pete and Jim; sister, Virg; and grandson, Brandon.
Ive known Teddy for about 7 years now…he was one of the sweetest..nicest person ive ever met..loved visiting with him and listening to storys he had..he very much reminded me of my own Grandfather..my thoughts an prayers are with you all!!!
he was the type of grandfather who would help you no matter whtat and would give u his shirt off his back he was loved by very many friends and family
