John Selix, Jr., age 78, of Monticello died May 13, 2010 at New River Medical Center in Monticello. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rev. Howard Skulstad officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in East Bradford Cemetery in rural Isanti.
John Selix, Jr. was born December 6, 1931 in Morris to John and Elvera (Grandy) Selix. He was raised in the Glenwood area. John served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the end of the Korean War. After his military service he came back to Glenwood. On December 24, 1955 he married Lelabell Lester and they made their home in St. Paul where they would live most of their married life. John was employed as a machinist for many years. They moved to Monticello six years ago. His hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, archery, camping and water skiing in his younger years.

John is survived by his wife, Lelabell of Monticello; 4 children, John (Gloria) Selix of Florida, Sally (Mark) Pearson of St. Paul, Brian (Nancy) Selix of Washington, Linda (Rich) Hansen of Monticello; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dewain (Charlotte) Selix of Deer Creek, Melvin (Jeanne) Selix of Isanti; 2 sisters, Audrey (Don) Engren of Becker, Joice Selix of Anoka; and by many other relatives and friends.
