Glen Tallman, age 83, of Isanti died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Bethel with Rev. Steve Melander officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 15th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Glen Linberg Tallman, son of Lyall and Elva (Pettis) Tallman, was born April 23, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended school in Polley, Wisconsin. Glen served in the Navy during WWII, serving in the Philippines in the water purification plant. He received his honorable discharge and returned to his home in Wisconsin where he worked as a logger and a school bus driver. In 1951 he moved to Minneapolis and worked for St. Paul Hoist until they moved out of state. He then worked for Borchert Ingersoll until they also moved out of St. Paul. The rest of his employment (1972-1989) was for the St. Francis School district where he worked as a custodian at the Middle School, High School, East Bethel Community School, and ended up at St. Francis Elementary School.
Glen and Lois (Palmer) were married on July 12, 1952. They resided in Minneapolis until May 1956 when they moved to a small farm near Bethel. They have lived there ever since. Glen retired in 1989 and enjoyed his flowers, vegetable garden, hunting, fishing and bird watching and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna Panetti. He is survived by his wife, Lois; two daughters, Patti (Ernie) Nelson of Isanti, Peggy (Phil) Peterson of Isanti; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Nelson of Milaca, Bryan (Jacqueline) Nelson of Zimmerman, Amy Nelson of Isanti, Lyndsie Peterson and Caitlyn Peterson of Isanti; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Owen Nelson of Zimmerman; and by other relatives and friends.
