Etta M. Johnson, age 80, of Isanti died July 31, 2010 at Cambridge Medical Center. Funeralserviceswill be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, August 5th at South Isanti Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Venneman officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 4th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel. Interment will be in Isanti Union Cemetery.
Etta M. Johnson was born August 3, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota to Herbert and Ethel Quade. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church. She attended school in Duluth, graduating from Denfeld High School. She also attended Duluth Business School and Stone School of Music. After spending three years in Miami, Florida working as a steno-receptionist at the Greater Miami Council of Churches, she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a public stenographer and legal secretary at Pure Oil Company. She was an active member of the National Secretaries Association, Minneapolis City of Lakes Chapter of Sweet Adelines and Volunteer Service Bureau. Etta spent many hours volunteering playing piano at nursing homes and the VA Hospital. While living in Minneapolis, Etta attended Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. On May 25, 1963 she married Robert C. Johnson of Isanti. On August 3, 1965 their son, Daniel, was born.
Etta worked in the activities department of Cambridge Health Care Center for five years as Activity Assistant accompanying the residents with piano and accordion at their sing-alongs, among other things. For several years she also taught piano and accordion to the neighborhood children. She was a member of South Isanti Womens Missionary Society, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Isanti County Unit of American Cancer Society, Isanti Historical Society and Isanti County Humane Society.
Her greatest pleasure in later years were her three grandchildren, Emily, Jacob and Joshua, whom she loved dearly. They were the light of her life. Her family always had top priority and any time she spent with them gave her great happiness.
Etta M. Johnson died July 31, 2010 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Etta is survived by her husband, Robert C. Johnson of Isanti; son, Daniel (Julie) Johnson of Harris; brother, Herbert (June) Quade Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia; three grandchildren, Emily, Jacob and Joshua; and by other relatives and friends.
