Robert “Buck” Lillion, age 86, of Cambridge died July 12, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with a visiting time 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Harry Eklund will officiate. Interment will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery.
Robert Joseph Lillion was born December 27, 1923 in Holyoke, Minnesota to Joseph and Hulda Lillion. When he was 4 years old his mother died and the family moved to Athens Township in rural Isanti. Robert graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1941. After high school he moved to California and worked in the Kaiser Ship Yards. Robert married Mary Peterson in Baudette on March 25, 1949. They farmed at Baudette and then he worked on the Ore Boats on the Great Lakes. They then moved back to Isanti to farm the Erickson Farm in Athens Township. They later sold the farm and moved to east Athens and he worked at the Arsenal and later at Hoffman where he retired from in 1985. Robert was on the first Memorial Hospital Board in Cambridge, he served on the Faith Lutheran Church Board in Isanti and was active in the DFL Party. He enjoyed traveling to San Diego, Las Vegas and to northern Minnesota. He also enjoyed farming, camping and gardening.
Robert Buck Lillion died July 12, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 15 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl and by two sisters, Edith and Eleanor.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary of Cambridge; seven children, Robert Lillion, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Donald (Lois) Lillion of Colorado Springs, Bonnie Medin of Princeton, Todd (Patricia) Lillion of Isanti, Laurie Lillion of Cambridge, Kathy Carrier of Isanti, Gary (Brenda) Lillion of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean Lillion of Isanti; three sisters, Matilda Stone of Cambridge, Grace Haynes of Oregon, June Anderson of Mora; and by many other relatives and friends.
