Russell Wendorff, age 95, of Cambridge died July 27, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 31st at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. David Everett officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery.
Russell Marvin Wendorff was born September 3, 1914 at Ivanhoe, Minnesota to Albert and Caroline (Neuman) Wendorff. He was raised and attended school in many places as his family had to move to find work during the depression. Russell served in the CCC Camps in Ely for three years. On July 1, 1939 Russell married Frieda Krause in Giese, Minnesota. They lived and farmed in McGrath and later in Malmo. In 1956 they sold their farm and moved to Cambridge where they have since made their home. Russell worked in construction for many years, often working on windows.
Russell enjoyed woodworking and was an avid reader. He especially loved reading western books and also watching western movies. He was a great cribbage player and he taught his grandchildren the game and enjoyed playing it with them. Russell will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Russell M. Wendorff passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 24 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda; granddaughter, Brenda Wendorff; and four sisters, Lela Holmes, Edith Olson, Alberta Krebs and Geneva Wendorff.
He is survived by his son, Russell A. (Phyllis) Wendorff of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Lois (LeRoy) Hischer of North Branch; sister, Irene Mahlman of Cloquet; five grandchildren, Melody (Dan) Vos, Dawn (Bruce) Paul, Melissa Franklin, Lane (Suzie) Hischer, and Lance Hischer; by 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
