Ernest Gave, age 58, of Cambridge died September 12, 2010 at Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Dave Solberg officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 17th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Long Lake Community Cemetery.
Ernest Dale Gave was born February 17, 1952 in Milaca to Verner and Ella Mae Gave. He was baptized and raised in Onamia and graduated from Onamia High School. Ernie was in the Army from 1969 1972 and served in Viet Nam. He was married to his wife, Cheryl, for 36 years. Ernie worked for National Bushing in Anoka. He then owned and operated 3G & R Auto Repair in Anoka and then worked at John Roberts Printing Company in Coon Rapids. He later worked for and retired in 2000 from Gannett Printing Company in Maple Grove. His hobbies and interests included working on cars, remodeling his home, watching family and friends play sports and extra curricular activities and vacationing with family and friends.
Ernest Gave died September 12, 2010 at Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 26 days. Ernest was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Verner Gave and by his step-mother, Helen Gave.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Cambridge; son, Todd (Rita) Roben of St. Cloud; daughter, Erin Gave of Cambridge; 3 grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Shawn and Audrianna Roben of St. Cloud; mother, Ella Mae (Melvin) Baumgartner of Onamia; brothers and sisters, Gary (Laura) Gave of Ramsey, Julene (Randy) Holt of Andover, Theresa (Rob) Peterson of Ham Lake, Jodi Greene of Coon Rapids, Mel (Sue) Baumgartner of Cottage Grove and Shirley (David) Bauer of Elk River; and by many other relatives and friends.
