Velma Baker, age 95, of Forest Lake, formerly of Stacy died December 23, 2010 at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Rev. Howard Skulstad officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Francis River Cemetery in Glendorado.
Velma May Baker was born May 31, 1915 in Foley to George and Margaret Reese. She was raised and lived her early years in Foley. Velma married Ralph Charles Baker on September 23, 1931 in Foley. They made their home on a farm at Foley until 1942 when they moved to St. Paul. They moved to Stacy in 1975 and they then wintered in Florida for six months of the year. Her husband died on September 9, 1994. Velma became a resident of Birchwood Health Care Center in April of 2004. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, being on the farm and gardening. She also enjoyed crocheting, she made many afghans for several family members and friends, and doing jig saw puzzles.
Velma Baker died December 23, 2010 at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake at the age of 95 years, 6 months, 22 days.
Velma in survived by her daughter, Joan (Howard) Lee of Vadnais Heights; son, Ralph (Bev) Baker of Vadnais Heights; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
