Cathy Hirsch was born in Cambridge, Minnesota on March 15, 1974, the sixth child of Charles and Donna (Tharp) Hirsch. She was Baptized at Christ the King Catholic Church, Cambridge, and Confirmed at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Braham. Cathy grew up in rural Stanchfield and attended Braham Area Schools, from which she graduated in 1992. She traveled to Oregon after high school and fell deeply in love with the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Though her dash; that tiny, yet significant line that represents the years between birth and death, was short, it was filled with a love of life and a sense of humor that brought forth smiles, laughter and a few groans from all those who knew and loved her.
Cathy loved fishing, and many creative and artistic pursuits such as painting, writing poetry and stories, and scrapbooking, but her greatest loves were her dog Ashka and spending time with her family, especially her numerous nieces and nephews. Cathy’s great love for all of our family’s children was an inspiration and a testimony to love of family.
Cathy Elizabeth Hirsch was called suddenly home to our Lord on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the age of 37 years, two months and a day. She passed away at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents Emerson and Dolores Hirsch and Albert and Florence Tharp, her brother-in-law William Kent, niece Alisha Hirsch and nephews James, John, and Joseph Hirsch.
