Carolyne Manthey, age 73, of Isanti died August 6, 2011 at her home. A ‘Celebration of Life’ Memorial Service and Luncheon is to be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 17 at the American Legion Club #290 in Cambridge, MN.
Carolyne Neomi (Steeves) Manthey, 73, joined loved ones who went before her on August 6, 2011, 8:43 a.m. at her home in Isanti, MN. She is missed and our memories of her and her thoughtfulness cherished. She is to be interred with her husband Donald in the National Cemetery at Ft. Snelling, MN.
She was born to Vivian Marie (Bullford) and Clarence Aaron Steeves in Baldwin Township, Sherburne County, MN December 25, 1937. She grew up in Greenbush Township, Princeton, MN on the family farm with her Sister, Shirley Jean (deceased) (Gary Mathison) of Princeton, MN and brother Clarence L. Steeves Jr. (Judy, Divorced) of Crown, MN. Carolyne graduated Class of 1956 from Princeton High School followed by Beauty School. In 1965 Carolyne opened her first Beauty Shop in her home in Fridley, MN; and in 1968 she opened her shop in her Ham Lake, MN home. In 1975 she became a fulltime homemaker after moving to Crosby, MN.
On December 16, 1958, Carolyne married Donald R. Manthey of Minneapolis, MN in Mason City, Iowa; they built and made homes in Fridley, Ham Lake, Crosby, MN, Fairbanks, Alaska and finally Isanti, MN. Carolyne had two children and a stepson, Sherri (David Van Horn) of Ham Lake, MN, Michael (Paulette) of Isanti, MN, and Raymond (Dawn) of Ham Lake, MN. Carolyne had five granddaughters, Heather (Minneapolis, MN), Amy (Hopkins, MN), and Gwen Van Horn (Ham Lake, MN); Crystal and Leah Manthey (Ham Lake, MN). Carolyne had three great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Jackson (Minneapolis, MN) and Payton David (Ham Lake, MN). Carolyne had numerous nieces and nephews whom she cared for deeply; Carolynes’ family and friends were always in her thoughts.
Carolyne was an extremely talented and creative person and enjoyed many activities that included home decorating, gardening, collecting recipes, playing cards and making her home comfortable for family and friends. Carolyne’s patriotic and civic affiliations included Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star-Evergreen Chapter # 204, Lifetime Charter Member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit #39-Anoka, American Legion Club #290 Women’s Auxiliary -Cambridge and attended Long Lake Lutheran Church, Isanti, MN.
