In Memory of Victor Louis

Victor Joseph Louis, age 92, of North Branch died August 25, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 30th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge with Father James David Hahn as Celebrant. A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, August 29th with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Victor Joseph Louis was born December 21, 1918 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was raised in the Rice Street area of St. Paul and earned his diploma at Washington High School. Victor served his country in the US Navy and Merchant Marines during WWII. He graduated from officer’s training school and became a 3rd Assistant Engineer. On July 1, 1944 he married Lorraine Ostrum in St. Paul. He worked as a blacksmith for many years and then went to work at Unisys. After retiring in 1982 they moved to North Branch. Victor enjoyed working with ornament iron in his younger years and later in life enjoyed raising a small flock of sheep. He also enjoyed deer hunting and playing black jack.

Victor J. Louis died August 25, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Bertha Louis; by his sister, Dolores Schreier; and brothers-in-law, Frank Schreier and Walter Ostrum.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lorraine; by his daughter, Kathleen (David) Skiba of North Branch; four grandchildren, Michael (Sally) Skiba, Christopher (Melissa) Skiba, Kari (Joseph) Stanek and Patrick (Jennifer) Skiba; 10 great-grandchildren, Bryce, Nathan, Mikayla, Meghan, Caleb, Victoria, Sykora, Cyana, Peter and Abigail; and by other relatives and friends.
