Lucille J. (Holst) Peterson, age 94,of Isanti died January 12, 2012 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, MAY 19, 2012 at St. Francis United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Nelson officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lucille Jeanette Peterson was born at home in northern Anoka County to Fred and Mary Holst on April 23, 1917. Lucille attended school and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1935. She married Arlo L. Peterson on August 20, 1938 and they made their home on the Peterson farmstead in southern Isanti County. They raised two children, Elroy and Diane. She was a former school teacher, homemaker, Mom and Grandma.
Lucille attended Normal Training in Anoka, Minnesota, and taught grades one through eight in a one-room school in Burns Township, Anoka County, until she married Arlo. Married women were not allowed to teach at that time. She was very active at the St. Francis Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and superintendent as well as Ladies Aide and choir member. She was a 4H leader for the Stanford Stars 4H Club when her children were active in 4H. She was a teacher and mentor for each member. She loved children and was the ultimate hostess for anyone coming to her home. She liked to sing and play piano or organ, sew, bake and garden, especially flowers. She made wonderful pies, cinnamon rolls, and cookies for the extended family and community to enjoy.
Lucille Peterson died at GracePointe Crossing Gables East in Cambridge, Minnesota, on January 12, 2012, at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Arlo; father, Fred Holst: mother Mary Sweigard Holst Peterson; step-father, Edward T. Peterson; son, Elroy Peterson; great-grandson, Matthew Palmer; brother, Frederick Holst of Anoka County and sister, Clara Holst Schake Blake of Border, Minnesota.
Lucille is survived by daughter, Diane (Thomas) Beck of Waconia, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Cora Clark Peterson of Isanti; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and 1 niece and many extended family members, friends and neighbors.

Such a warm and loving person,and definately loved her family. Diane and Cora, I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Lucille and Arlo as a neighbor for many, many years. They were always so very nice to me when we would see each other. We have lost a wonderful lady and I know she will be missed by everyone that knew her.
