Leo Paul Harp, age 70, of Cambridge died September 21, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 26th at Common Ground United Methodist Community in Cambridge with Rev. Jean Rollin officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel and also one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.
Leo Paul Harp was bornMay 16, 1942in Mora,Minnesotato Merton and Leola (Hass) Harp. He was raised in Ogilvie and graduated fromOgilvieHigh Schoolin 1961. After high school he worked at Dahlman’s in Braham. OnJune 18, 1965Leo married Harriet VanGunst at Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church. They made their home in Mora for five years before moving to Braham. In 2004 Leo and Harriet moved toCambridge. Leo worked as a welder at Arrow Tank and later at Schlagel Inc. inCambridge. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Leo loved reading, watching birds and watching sports on TV. He was also an active church member, serving on the boards of Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church and most recently at Common Ground United Methodist Community inCambridge.
Leo died peacefullySeptember 21, 2012at home at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 5 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra, and a sister, Sharoan Verlennich.
Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Harriet; one son, Larry (Julie) Harp of Mora; three grandchildren, Lacey, Lyndsey and Maekaela; one sister, Arlene Straight of Apple Valley; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Roelofs of Mora, Jeanette DeYoung of Ogilvie, and Johanna VanGunst of Inver Grove Heights; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
