George Norman Nelson was born August 21, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George Roland and Mollie (Anzelc) Nelson. Norm graduated from Southwest High School in 1957. He has made his home in East Bethel since the early 1960’s. He loved being in the wide open space in the country. Norm lived the cowboy way. He enjoyed horses, calf roping and anything western. He also loved seeing “young people” succeed. He was the happiest when he could spend hours every day teaching kids to be champions in the rodeo arena. He was known to talk a whole lot but not say much. Norm was very strong and opinionated and always did things his way. He always kept his dignity and did so until the very end.
Norm Nelson passed away September 21, 2012 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 73 years and one month. He was preceded in death by his father.
Norm will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; son, Nick (Laura) Nelson of Minneapolis; daughter, Mardee (Shawn) Hollenbeck of Kansas; mother, Mollie Hogan of East Bethel; grandchildren, Brandi, Blair and one on the way; and by many other relatives and friends.

Very sorry to hear of Norm death. He will be joining the other Minnesota Cowboys waiting for him to have a great rodeo in lush fields and blue skies the Lord provides in the life after. He was a friend to all he met.
