I am so grateful to have been Paula’s colleague at the Ombudsman’s Office and friend for a long, long time. Paula taught me so much about how to live life with more courage, laughter, and compassion. She brightened up so many days for me, and gave me her gift of sharing personal stories. Her kindness, laughter, and sense of humility was there for everyone to experience. May peace be with her family and may her wonderful memories live on in the hearts of all who survive her. My thoughts and prayers are with all who loved her, especially her family.i

Bonnie Burdine says
Paula’s family. You are all in my prayers and thoughts at this sad time. Ron you were the light of your mom’s eyes. She loved you so much and was so proud of you. She always praised you for taking care of Gramma and helping mom out when she needed it. You were always good to her animals. You were her everything!!! She loved all her brothers and we got to know the whole family through our talks. Paula was a great friend and I am so going to miss her! We carpooled together for many years. Like Tracy said, we shared laughs, tears, and everyday stories. Paula was a genuinely super nice person and had a heart of gold. She always had a big hug for you in person or an “I love you kid” and “big hugs to you” over the phone. I’m still in shock that she left this world so early and my heart is aching and I can’t cry any more and only 5 months after retiring from her State job. I know that she will be someone’s guardian angel and watch over them well. I love you Paula and miss you so much!!!
