Stephen “Buzz” Rooney, age 74 of Harris died April 8, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Father James David Hahn officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Cambridge American Legion.
Stephen Joseph Rooney was born March 12, 1939 in Osakis to Stephen A. and Ruby (Ensign) Rooney. He was raised in Osakis and graduated from Osakis High School, Class of 1958. Buzz then served in the Air Force from October 1958 to October 1963. After his military service he moved to the Twin Cities. On October 26, 1963 he married Lois Breeggeman in Shakopee and they made their home in Blaine. In 1973 they moved to Harris, rural Cambridge, where they have since made their home. Stephen last worked for International Paper in Arden Hills. He especially loved his family, grandchildren and all of the family activities. He also enjoyed fishing and was always “tinkering” with something.
Stephen Rooney died April 8, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West at the age of 74 years and 27 days. Besides his parents, Buzz was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Lawrence, Patrick, William and Tom and 2 sisters, Lorraine Rooney and Jane Vanderharr.
Buzz is survived by his wife, Lois of Harris; 2 children, Scott (Pattie) Rooney of South St. Paul, Teresa Ann (Tracy) Teague of Algona, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Joseph, Tyler, Jack, Jacob, Sean and Jason; 5 sisters, Jen Stocker of Coon Rapids, Sister Rosemary of St. Paul, Alice (Don) Geis of Hopkins, Pat Helen Kettler of Chanhassen, Kathy (Gerry) Thielen of Cottage Grove; 3 brothers, Daniel (Pam) Rooney of Osakis, Michael Rooney of Osakis, John (Debbie) Rooney of Columbia Heights; and by many other relatives and friends.
