Verda Prebil, age 86, of Cambridge and formerly of Blaine, died October 24, 2013th at Haven House in Cambridge. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 2nd at Glen Cary Lutheran Church in Ham Lake with Rev. Howard Skulstad officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Verda Emma Prebil was born, the fifth of six children, December 23, 1926 to Herbin and Esther (Rodin) Usher in Cedar, Minnesota. She was raised in the Cedar area and attended school in St. Francis. On July 11, 1979 Verda married Louis C. Prebil and they made their home in Blaine. Louis died September 29, 1989 and Verda continued to live in her home until 1994 when she moved to Coon Rapids. In 2009 she made the move to Isanti, living with her daughter, Charlene and her family, for a year and a half before settling in at the Haven House in Cambridge.
Verda was a life long member at Glen Cary Lutheran Church in Ham Lake. She loved playing cards; cribbage, 500 and Tick among others were her favorites. When she was out gallivanting with her sister Vi or “going fishing” we knew that meant going to the casino. Verda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking.
Verda died October 24, 2013 at Haven House in Cambridge at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 1 day. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by seven children, Perry Hoff, Denise Aune (Rex Martin), Liane (Verble) Lawson, Muriel Hoff, Jeanette Cooper, Charlene (Jeffrey) Miller, Raymond (Kathy) Prebil; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister, JoAnne Walters; and many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
