Esther Wall, age 91, of Cambridge died February 10, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 18th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Rev. David Franzmeier officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Esther will also be held at a later date.
Esther Ann Wall was born December 23, 1922 in Petrel, North Dakota to Wilhelm and Katie (Elhi) Christman. She also grew up and attended country school in Petrel. After graduating, Esther worked as a waitress and that is where she met her husband, James. They were married January 7, 1946 and lived in Lemmon, South Dakota for two years before moving to Minnesota. They had two daughters and Esther stayed at home to raise her children. They lived in Minneapolis and Coon Rapids for 16 years and then moved to the Ogilvie-Mora area in 1968 to be out in the country. She later worked for the City of Ogilvie for 20 years before retiring. In 1988 her husband had to go to the nursing home. She moved to Pine Village in Cambridge in 1991. She then moved to Riverwood in 2007 until 2013 when she found a home at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Esther died February 10, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 18 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James; brothers, John, August, Reinhold, and Jacob Christman; and sister, Carrie Anderson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Patricia (Lloyd) Knudson of Hugo, Karen Jean (Stanley) Doble of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Chance (Amy) Norby, Jennifer Barnick, Ian (Gina) Knudson, and Michael J. (Keri) Doble; nine great-grandchildren, Derek Barnick, Kaitlyn Barnick, Bailey Norby, Brayden Doble, Ella Joy Doble, Tanner Doble, Olivia Knudson, Nicole Weis and Michael Weis; one great-great-grandchild, Aiden Weis; sisters-in-law, Doris Christman and Vera Wall; and by other relatives and friends.
