Abram Ewert, age 88, of Isanti died June 15, 2014 at home. Delora Ewert, age 87, of Isanti died June 26, 2014 at home. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 2nd at Oxlip Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Lee Scheumann officiating. A time for visiting will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Abram Ewert was born August 12, 1925 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to David and Agatha (Baerg) Ewert. He was raised and lived most of his life at Mountain Lake. He trusted the Lord Jesus as his Savior as a young teenager, was baptized and joined the church. Abram married Delora Balzer on September 2, 1955. They farmed Abram’s home farm for many years and retired from milking cows in 1992. In 2005 they moved to rural Isanti. Abram was an active member of the Carson Mennonite Brethren Church where he served as deacon and in several other positions. He was treasurer of DHIA for over 35 years and was also a 4-H leader.

Delora Balzer Ewert was born December 15, 1926 in Cottonwood County, MN to Peter and Lydia (Deckert) Balzer. She was raised on a small farm in Mountain Lake area. She trusted the Lord Jesus as her Savior as a teenager, was baptized and joined the church. After earning her teaching credential, she taught in Southern Texas for 2 years. Returning home, she married Abram Ewert in September 1955. Together they settled on Abe’s farm and raised a family. They had 4 children.
She loved creating a loving home for her family and supported her husband in many ways as he worked outside dairying. For many years she served as choir director and piano accompanist for Carson M.B. Church in Delft, MN.

They are survived by their 4 children, Steven (Lois) Ewert of Fresno, California, Ilene (Marlin) Anderson of Isanti, Jolene (David) Ehne of Coon Rapids, Rose (Mark) Olsen of Brooklyn Park; 10 grandchildren; Abe’s sister, Anna Ewert of Mountain Lake; brother, Adam (Alice) Ewert of Texas; Delora’s sister, Berdina (Don) Emmert of Sweet Home, OR and many other relatives and friends.
