Paul O'Connor says
in the late 70’s my mother asked my Uncle Dan to watch us for the weekend while my parents went out of town. Of course my uncle agreed to watch us.
He arrived in the quite suburb of Maple grove in his full bikers outfit. Leather chaps, full leather jacket, leather hat and gloves. He pulled up to the house in
his loud motorcycle and I can only imaging what the neighbors were thinking.
Instead of using the front door Uncle Dan decided to go though the backyard and entered through the back door leading to the garage, he was then greeted by my dog Tara.
After seeing Tara Uncle Dan greeted my dog in the only manner that Uncle Dan would have. Raising his hands up in the air, and with the light coming behind him he looked liked a
medium size bear he then gave a great howl. Tara literally pissed herself and made a beeline into the house. Of course seeing this I was started as well. (How many times would a 7 year old see a sight like this.) On a side note Tara never forgave him and every time she saw him no matter how sweet he was to her she would always look at him same way that a patient would look at your dentist if he decided to conduct a root canal l without the use of novocaine.
We had a great weekend, I don’t remember all the details. What I do remember is laughing, watching TV on the floor with him and having a great weekend.
That is the memory I will always have of my late Uncle, I will miss him terribly. This is also painful because he was the last surviving sibling survived by his two sisters Aunt Louis and my Mother Jackie. I do know the three of them are all in heaven having one of their many debates but still always loving each other.
