Sharon Poland says
Always the quintessential Swedish hostess, I could not step foot in Lillian’s kitchen without being offered a cup of coffee and something to eat – usually multiple times! She was always cheerful and dressed to go out, just in case. When possible, I’d bring my little dog, Houston, over to see her. He loved going to Lillian’s house, and would run to her side as soon as the door opened. She enjoyed him, too; and always had a big smile on her face when he was around. I know she slipped forbidden treats to him under the table, but I didn’t care. That Swedish hospitality extended to everyone, as it should! My son, Jonathan, enjoyed visiting Lillian also. Before he left for school last fall, we went to see her and sang hymns, worship songs, and classic songs from her past for the longest time. She was eager to join in, and remembered many of the words better than we did! It was easy to see that music spoke to her in a special way. I am honored and grateful to have known Lillian. I pray that God will give peace and strength to her family and will comfort them with many wonderful memories – and especially to my friend, her daughter Lee Ann, who was unable to travel to Minnesota at this time.
