Kenneth M. Grandell, Sr., age 87, of Cambridge died February 22, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 2nd at Lord of Life Lutheran Church 14501 Nowthen Blvd NW in Ramsey with Rev. David Lechelt officiating. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 1st at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Nowthen.
Kenneth Mahue Grandell, Sr. was born May 24, 1927 in Duluth to Hugo and Mable (Vexall) Grandell. He was raised and attended school in Duluth. Kenneth joined the Navy and served during the end of World War II. After his military service he went back to Duluth. On January 17, 1953 he married Bonnie Erickson and they made their home in Duluth before moving to the Twin Cities area. He was a man of many occupations. He was in the restaurant business; he was a public servant as a policeman, fireman and ambulance service. He became an owner/manager of a traffic control business. After retirement they moved to Sun City West, Arizona. Kenneth was a member of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse and was a volunteer at Boswell Hospital in Sun City West. Three years ago they moved to Cambridge. He was an avid golfer, loved the outdoors, hunting, horses and model trains.
Ken died February 22, 2015 at his home in Cambridge. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kenneth Grandell, III. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Bonnie; 6 children, Kenneth (Charlette) Grandell, Jr. of Andover, Kathleen (Jeff) Sharbono of Cambridge, Kevin (LuAnn) Grandell of Princeton, Jeffrey Grandell of Minnetonka, Kameron (Lori) Grandell of Coon Rapids, Kirk (Lynn) Grandell of Blaine; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s research.

So sorry to hear about Ken’s passing. Though he was a man of many endeavors, the most precious seemed to center around his whole family. I know he will be greatly missed.. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow.
