Arlene Kunzer, age 80, of Zimmerman died March 30, 2015 at home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, April 2nd at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rev. Dan Nordin officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Atna Cemetery.
Arlene Norma Kunzer was born July 13, 1934 in Hibbing to Oscar and Alice (Wertz) Waldahl. She was raised in Hibbing and graduated from Hibbing High School, Class of 1952. On December 8, 1952 she married LeRoy Kunzer at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hibbing. They made their home in Hibbing and started their family. In 1965 they moved to Bloomington where she would become an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. In 2000 they moved to Zimmerman where she has since made her home. Arlene was a devoted compassionate wife, mother and grandmother. Every day she read the newspaper and did the crossword puzzle. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting baby sweaters, snowmen and Easter baskets. Arlene was a cook and baker and known for her frosted sugar cookies. She enjoyed going out to eat and going to garage sales. Arlene was a great role model and was deeply loved and respected by her family and friends.
Arlene went home to her Lord Jesus and husband LeRoy on March 30, 2015. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Luverne; brother, Lenny; granddaughter, Cherish Lacey. She is survived by her 5 children, Alana Kunzer of Big Lake, LeRoy, Jr. of Zimmerman, Lenny of Zimmerman, Russ (Sue) of Lino Lakes, Kathy (Andy) Miller of Zimmerman; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
