Carol Field, of Isanti, passed away peacefully while holding the hands of her two daughters, after fighting a long term illness, COPD/emphysema at the age of 74 years, 8 months. Carol is preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Ray Field, her parents, Ray and Nina Craypo, and her younger sister, Janice Madsen.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Bill) Arenz of Cambridge, Peggy (Tim) Moore of Cambridge, son, Albert M. Carol was born in Arcadia, CA in her Grandma Zimmerman’s home on August 13, 1940. Carol was raised in Southern California and moved to Minnesota after marriage. Carol had many passions in her life, most importantly her children, grandchildren and her love of animals, especially her many dogs. Carol loved to talk and had the gift of gab, she had a very dry sense of humor and loved a good joke and laugh. Carol loved sharing her passion for football and her favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. Carol loved all types of games, game shows, board games, cards, and with her favorite color red, we all knew her team would be the red team. She loved music, especially Elvis and good ole country music. Carol was an avid collector of many things and her home was a display of all her favorite collections. Carol was a witty poet and, yes, she did know it. Her friends and family would enjoy calling Carol, expecting to hear her latest witty poem that she had on her answering machine, the message would have you laugh and smile.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Private family memorial services are planned. Memorial’s preferred to Minnesota Humane Society. (www.mnhumane.org)

God called my Grandma up to heaven to be one of his Angels. Even though it’s breaking our hearts you are in a better place now. I remember going to her house in Whittier and spending the night. We would have so much fun together. I loved jumping on her little trampoline she had. I use to sneak in her bathroom and spray her perfume thinking she wouldn’t notice but of course she always did. I would love to hear all your stories, especially the stories about my Dad. You loved to laugh and make people laugh. I loved playing cards and games with you, especially Rummy and Skip Bo. I loved talking to you and we would talk for hours upon hours. You sure did love to talk Grandma and you always had words of wisdom. You loved your water, doggies and gum. I’ll miss getting you your water Grandma. You were a wonderful, strong and amazing woman and will be deeply missed. I have so many great memories with you Grandma and will cherish them forever. Give kisses to everyone up in Heaven with you for me. I will love and miss you Grandma! Always and Forever! Your Granddaughter, Crystal

I called Carol “Mom”, to me that is who she will always be. We shared the color red as being a favorite. My Best Part , Peggy Sue, is the best of all Carol shared with me. I can’t say thank you enough . We both have a dry sense of humor and a taste for a good cup of coffee and talking. Start with one subject and move to another, our conversations were fun . Her generosity was always straight from her heart, she never forgot anyone “ever”. Real Moms and Grand Moms never forget anyone, she is as real as you get. Till we meet again Mom , I’ll have that cup of coffee in remembrance of you …..Love You Mom

What can I say about my sister? We haven’t been able to see each other in years. We talked on the phone every other Saturday though. Rather, she talked and I mostly listened. We had so many laughs! The last time I called her, April 4th, she told me she couldn’t talk today cause she wasn’t feeling well. I asked what was wrong and she told me she couldn’t breathe. “You better get yourself to the hospital,” I told her. What did she say to me? “I can’t because I have to color Easter eggs for the great grand kids!” That was my sister, always thinking of the children. I will really miss our talks, especially every other Saturday.

I had the opportunity to work for Carolyn in her home., doing the things she no longer could do herself. I got to know her as a friend too. She was great! I always looked forward to my visits with her every Tuesday and Friday. She was a hoot at times and we would laugh out loud together. Her passing has got to be a blessing though. She will be watching her legacy unfold from above! I’m baking today in honor of her. Brenda, Peggy Sue and Albert, know this to be true. Time is a healer.

Carol was a great neighbor and friend. Back in the day I babysit for Kenny,Albert, Peggy and Brenda. I rarely can remember her without make up on and lipstick, I do remember she had a beautiful smile. I think she was always a California girl at heart. Carol was such a great confident exactly what a confused teenager like me needed at that time and she was the best listener. I know she loved her music because the radio would always be on when I went there. Carol and her family were just like family to me, and ironically she became my brother’s Mother in law when he married her daughter Brenda. Her wit and humor will be her legacy, R.i.P. Carol.

I always called her Carolyn. She was the one cousin with the most laughs. And true, she loved her music and I recall her singing around the house at our grandparent’s. Do you think that having red as a favorite color is a family tradition??? It was our Grandpa Zim’s favorite, her sister Janice’s favorite, and it’s mine, too! And I think talking is inherited, too. I would try to call her on my way to work in the mornings because I knew it was a long drive and we’d have the time! I’m sorry I never made it to Minnesota, I kept thinking she’d finally come back to California.
I wish all God’s blessings on her family and may HIS peace be yours and give you comfort in the days ahead.

I have nothing but fond memories of Carol. I met her 50 years ago and we had lots of fun together. We bowled together, talked for hours, took our kids swimming in the lakes around Minneapolis. I could write a book about the adventures we had. Then she moved to California and I moved to Oklahoma and got to visit her once while she was in Whittier when I was in LA for a job. That was the first time I went up in the mountains.
We always talked to each other on our birthdays, which were 2 days apart and at Christmastime and sometimes between, but never enough. We would visit when I came back to Minnesota occasionally. I will miss her greatly. I could tell her anything and she could always make me laugh.
My prayers are with all her family, Brenda, Peggy, Albert and all the grands and great-grands. She was truly a force of nature. Everyone who met her, loved her.
REX ZIMMERMAN says
I enjoyed talking each month with her over the past few years and hearing her crazy poetry on her answering machine. We had some fun conversations and tried to keep up with all the family. I was sad to hear she had been taken to the hospital but felt the prognosis was not good after talking to her a week or two before. She is in a much better place now with all her family members gone on before. Thanks Brenda for taking such good care of her before and after she went to be with her Heavenly Father. Our prayers and condolences are with you and all your family.
