Frances H. Herrly, age 94, of Cambridge died September 3, 2015 at Cambridge Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Sunday, September 6th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.
Frances Harriet Herrly was born July 11, 1921 in Clark County, South Dakota to Aadelbert and Fannie (Toussaint) Fokken. She was raised and attended school in Ogilvie. After graduating from Ogilvie High School. On March 18, 1942 Frances married John Alderink at her parent’s farm in Ogilvie. Frances and John raised their five children in Ogilvie where they also farmed. Frances attended Business College in St. Cloud and then worked at the unemployment office in Mora for twenty years. In December of 1979 John passed away.
In 1993 Frances married Luverne Herrly and they made their home in Cambridge. Frances and Luverne enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Frances also loved to read. In 2002 Luverne passed away and Frances continued making her home in Cambridge.
Frances passed away September 3, 2015 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 23 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, John and Luverne; brother, Allen Fokken; and sister, Marian Osterdyk.
Frances will be lovingly remembered by her five children, JoAnn (Harlan) Norman of Brainerd, James (Mary) Alderink of Placerville, CA, Kathy (Maurice) Visser of Mora, Nancy (Douglas) Grosinger of Rush City, David (Lurie) Alderink of Becker; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends.
