Helen I. Remmers, age 92, of Isanti died unexpectedly at home December 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 12th at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti. Visitation will be held 1/2 hour prior to the service at the church. (Note shortend visiting time.) Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.
Helen I. Remmers was born May 31, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Earl and Leah (Knapp) Rien. She was raised and attended school in NE Minneapolis. On May 17, 1942 Helen was united in marriage to Lloyd Remmers in Champlin. They made their home in Zimmerman and then in MoundsView. Helen worked as a receptionist for a chiropractor for many years and she thoroughly enjoyed all the people. After retirement they moved to Isanti Estates and then to Mora. Lloyd became ill and they decided to move to Meadows Edge in Isanti, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Helen was very active in the churches she attended and in the communities in which she lived. She volunteered at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the X-Ray department for years. Helen started Isanti County Senior Dining and was instrumental in its success over the years. She also enjoyed contributing articles in the local newspapers. Helen was a strong Christian lady and a member of Elim Baptist Church. She was very loved by her family and friends and her smile will always be remembered.
Helen passed away unexpectedly at home December 8, 2015 at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 8 days. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Marilee Radman, Shirlee (Jeff) Thompson; son, Dennis (Candace) Remmers; two brothers, Howard Rien, Donald (Dorothy) Rien; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; two grandsons, Phillip and Matthew; and a sister-in-law, Dixie.
