Sherrill “Cy” Powell, age 75, of Isanti died unexpectedly at home December 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 2nd at Cambridge Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, January 1st at Strike Funeral Home – ISANTI Chapel and also one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Isanti Union Cemetery.
Sherrill Eugene Powell was born October 31, 1940 at home in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Theodore and Louise (Weiscup) Powell. He was raised and attended school in Missouri Valley. On February 11, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara Taylo and they made their home in Omaha, Nebraska. They later lived in North St. Paul and then in 1971 they moved to Isanti. Sherrill was known to many friends as “Cy” and his family affectionately called him “Papa”. Cy worked as a forklift operator at 3M for over 35 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, watching and attending sporting events, and woodworking. He especially loved being with and talking to his family. Cy was a caring, sentimental person who enjoyed caring for others. He will be dearly missed.
Sherrill passed away unexpectedly at home December 26, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 26 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; three brothers, Jerry, Kenneth and Harley; two sisters, Susie (his twin sister) and Lois; and two grandsons, Neil and Michael.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Lori (Tom) Olson of North Branch, Cheryl Grams of Cambridge, and Tammi (Dan) Mujwid of Isanti; two brothers, Merle (Bernadine) Powell, Max (Jane Ann) Powell; one sister, Betty (Jim) Feld; sister-in-law, Alice Powell; 9 grandchildren, Kelsey (Eric), Lindsey, Mallory, Derrick, Alysha, Amber, Emily (John), Kyle and Jacob; one great-grandson, Connor; and by many other relatives and friends.

Grandpa was a amazing man he loved his family so much. He left a incredible legacy of love and kindness and really was the patriach our family. His home was a special place. All the game nights, bonfires, christmas eve extravaganza brought the family in.joyous harmony. He always had a welcoming heart whats mine is yours he would say. I always looked forward to a good home cooked meal and good company.

I miss talking to you this morning I miss talking to you at night…you were so strong for me especially with my fight of cancer.. I will miss our Friday breakfast at the kaffe stuga..you me and great grandson Connor. You spoiled him and fed him the jelly samples on the table there. I have so many fun loving memories You touched so many lives dad. I will miss your cooking and times when you would bring me lunch at work. Uncle Sherrill will be missed greatly! I will miss hearing the stories he told about him and his siblings as they grew up. He was my inside source for all things my dad did growing up that he didn’t want us to know. He was such a kind and loving person. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers!
