Irene A. Guza, age 97, of Isanti, died peacefully February 10, 2016 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, FEBRUARY 20th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Irene Anna Guza was born January 9, 1919 in Zion City, Illinois to Henry and Minnie (Turner) Graf. At a young age her family moved to Somerset, Wisconsin and in 1933 they moved to Webster. In 1934 Irene married Beryl Green in New Richmond and they had four children. They were divorced in 1965. Irene worked at St. Barnabus Hospital in Minneapolis packaging surgical instruments and she also worked in the kitchen.
On August 27, 1968 Irene married Frank Guza and they made their home in Minneapolis and then Blaine. Frank passed away in 2005 and Irene moved to Isanti. Irene was a social person and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She also enjoyed gardening in her younger years, sewing and cooking, especially for the holidays. She was an independent, proud, loving person who will be missed dearly.
Irene passed away peacefully February 10, 2016 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West in Cambridge at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 1 day. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Wayne Green; stillborn twin son to MaryLou; and by 14 siblings.
Irene is survived by one daughter, MaryLou (George) Sheldon of Isanti; one son, George Green, of Minneapolis; one brother, Rich Graf of Illinois; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
