Roger Owen Reynolds, age 90, of Princeton passed away June 24, 2016 at Elim Care and Rehab Center in Princeton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 27th at Freshwaters, A United Methodist Community, in Spencer Brook with Rev. Kevin Fox officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Princeton American Legion and National Guard.
Roger Owen Reynolds, age 90, of Princeton, MN, was born on September 4, 1925. Roger was called home while surrounded by loved ones on June 24 2016.
Roger was the son of Elmer and Martha (Ott) Reynolds. Roger was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Erwin, Gerald and infant brother Eugene; and also a sister, Marjorie Embretson.
At age 18 (1943) Roger was drafted into the army, serving during World War ll in England and Germany after the war ended.
He was a welder by trade for many years working for Carter Day Co. After retiring he started a stump grinding business where he could enjoy working outdoors. Roger lived in the Circle Pines for many years and then returned to the Princeton area and built his home near the original Reynolds farm.
One of Roger’s greatest adventures was a trip around the world with his son Jeff. Roger enjoyed travelling the U.S. and Canada. Fishing, collecting coins and going to auctions were favorite hobbies in Roger’s later years. Throughout his life Roger enjoyed working on cars and tractors, which included his prized 1927 Model T Runabout that was used for parades and fun rides.
Many will remember Roger as the “pumpkin man”. He grew hundreds of beautiful orange pumpkins, colorful popcorn and various veggies to share with neighbors and the food shelf.
Roger is survived by his sister, DeLoris Reynolds, and the mother of his three children, Joyce Fritche. His children include: Rodney Reynolds and wife Judy of Palmyra, MO and children Andrea Rickards of Columbia, MO and Jim Reynolds and Roger’s great granddaughter Claire of New Bloomfield MO; Val Vetos and husband Larry and daughter Becky Lewis and her husband Derrick of Princeton, MN; Jeff Reynolds and wife Genny, and daughters Amanda and Michelle, of Princeton, MN.
