Paul Blom, Sr. of Isanti died unexpectedly at his home on August 13, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 18th at New Hope Community Church in Cambridge. Friends may gather 1 hour before the service on Thursday at the Church.
Paul LeRoy Blom, Sr. was born June 16, 1946 in Seattle, Washington, to Hans and Viola (Thompson) Blom. The family moved often and then came to Minnesota. Paul graduated from North High School in Minneapolis. He then joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. He was discharged on June 23, 1967. After his military service he worked at Boeing in Seattle. He later moved to Indiana and then in 1971 he moved back to Minnesota. Paul married Marylee Loken on December 5, 1987 in Brooklyn Park. They made their home in North Minneapolis until moving to Isanti in 1994. Paul was Director of Recovery Ministries of New Hope Community Church in Cambridge and was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of CMA, Christian Motorcycle Association. He especially enjoyed the family activities and his grandchildren. He enjoyed tending his river shore property, gardening, yard work and enjoyed bon-fires with family and friends. Paul was a total “putzer” at his home and was always busy and on the go.

With heartfelt condolences Marylee, I send this message to you and your family. Paul was a blessing and mentor to me during my time of need. He sponsored my baptism and taught me how to live a recovered and functional life. His ministries and friendship will always be remembered by me and many other people who knew him. He has Gods love and knows he was very inspiring to many. I haven’t seen him in a couple of years but we stayed friends on Facebook. God bless you all and peace be with you too. Please let me know if I can be of any help to you. My email is ktdordal@gmail.com.
