Nadine D. Oine departed this life November 15, 2016, joining her beloved husband Karl Oine in eternal peace and unity in a love that transcended time, distance and absence.
Nadine was born on April 7th, 1938, to Dorothy and Greg Helvig, in Minneapolis, attending local schools in Minneapolis, until graduating from Robbinsdale High School in 1956. But the pivotal event in her life was her family residing across the street from the family of Karl L. Oine, who would eventually woo, propose and then marry Nadine in 1960. Karl and Nadine welcomed daughter Marci in 1961 and son David in 1964. Nadine’s children never tired of the stories of how their parents established a friendship and ultimately fell in love at such a tender age. Theirs is the tale of young love that sustained a lifetime, rarely seen today. Building a strong, committed, loving marriage, the Oine’s became even more solid and sturdy throughout their many years of moving and living “on the road” for Karl’s career, moving as soon as one week after David was born from Minneapolis to Des Moines, IA, then to Houston, Dallas, and Chicago suburbs, until moving to their favorite home in Prior Lake, MN in 1979.
After her children were grown, Nadine enjoyed working various jobs, until settling in as the Business Manager at Karl Oine & Associates for more than a decade. In retirement, which was all too short for the hard work and sacrifices made throughout their lifetime; Nadine enjoyed services at Long Lake Lutheran church, visits from friends and family and hosting holiday parties and entertaining, matinee’s and enjoying long days with Karl capturing sightings of wildlife on their Isanti acreage until his passing in 2006. Upon his death, Nadine found solitude and serenity reading a wide genre of books cover to cover, competing against TV contestants on ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’ filling the empty house with music and music or just relaxing at the end of each day ~ of each well-lived day ~ with a glass of wine or brandy in her jet-tub.
With her passing, despite the grief, we have full faith our Mom & Dad will be having Happy Hour in the Heavens every day! We will always love and miss you until we join you in what comes next.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Nadine’s honor to the National Alzheimer’s Association or The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051 Albert Lea, MN 56007 or Nick’s College Fund via his 529 Savings Plan. Please email at flanders4@comcast.net.
