Hazel Irene Lindgren was born December 5, 1925 in Crown, Minnesota to Carl and Ella (Stoeckel) Hierlinger. She was raised in Crown and graduated from St. Frances High School, Class of 1944. Hazel then attended Business School and MacPhail Center for Music. She married Curtis Lindgren on September 6, 1947 and they made their first home in Minneapolis. In 1952 they moved to Anoka where she lived until 2014 and then spent her last years at Edgewood Senior Living in Blaine, MN. Hazel had a deep and profound faith and was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka. Her church family were very important to her and where she was very active and taught Sunday School for 34 years. She loved her Mount Olive where she was part of the quilting group and passionate about her Home Study Group. She enjoyed singing earlier on and sang at many weddings and funerals. Hazel loved gardening and canning numerous types of vegetables, fruits, meats and produced thousands of her famous Blue Ribbon Pickles which she shared with many and even canned for ‘special orders’. She was especially proud of her many ribbons she won at the Anoka County Fair. Other interests included volunteering at Mercy Hospital from the day it opened until her mid 80’s, being one of the top sales persons for Anoka Community Concerts, cooking, baking, quilting, embroidering and was an avid walker. Hazel’s grandsons (her little lambs) will remember her buttermilk pancakes and her red velvet cake she ‘whipped up’ at the lake home on Mille Lacs. Haz had a great work ethic that she used over the years at the Creamette Company and for several years as a Bookkeeper at East Main Clinic in Anoka where she retired. Her friendships over the years were extremely important and her social calendar was always very full!
Hazel died July 24, 2017 at Edgewood Assisted Living at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 19 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis, and by 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by 2 children, Michelle DeMarais (David), Randy (Janet) Lindgren; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler, Cody, Reed (Becky); 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Grayson; sister, Renata Emmans; and by many other loving relatives and friends.
