Carl O. “Bud” Tormoen Jr., age 90, of Cambridge passed away December 18, 2017 in rural Princeton at the Anderson’s assisted living home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 27th at Karmel Covenant Church, 5799 County Rd 6 NW, Princeton with a time for visiting starting one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the Cambridge American Legion.
Carl “Bud” Olaf Tormoen, Jr. was born July 27, 1927 in White Butte, South Dakota to Carl and Stella (Tingstad) Tormoen. When he was 10 years old they moved to Thief River Falls, MN and later to Minneapolis. Bud attended the University of Minnesota and also served his country for 4 years in the US Air Force. On July 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to Winifred Boxmeyer in Iowa and they made their first home in St. Paul. In 1973 they moved into the home Bud built in Bradford Township. Bud worked as a carpenter building homes and then as a construction superintendent in commercial construction for MA Mortenson for the last 10 years of his career. Bud was an excellent athlete and could play any sport very well. He also enjoyed the many family camping trips they took. Bud was a member of Karmel Covenant Church.
Bud passed away December 18, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 21 days. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, George, Vern and Earl; and one sister, Mildred Pfarr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Winifred; sons, Todd (Lynne) Tormoen and Timothy Tormoen (Chris); brother, James (Eleanore) Tormoen; sisters, Gladys Landers, Joyce Meichels, and Shirley Tormoen; sister-in-law, Shirley Tormoen; grandchildren, Danny, Michael and Jonny; and many other relatives and friends.
