So very sorry to hear about Dean’s passing. I knew him for many, many, years as he did a number of hvac jobs for us. I don’t think there was ever a person that met Dean that didn’t immediately like him. He had a down to earth attitude and a great sense of humor that just naturally made people listen to him. I hadn’t seen him in awhile but the last time I did, he was as friendly as ever and it felt like the time that we hadn’t seen each other didn’t matter in the least. He was a great friend and I’ll miss him.

Dear Brenda and family,
Tonight, I red in a local newspaper by the tragedy from your family with Dean’s passing. I knew him through your courtesy, and it was my great pleasure not just to look at his so elaborate and diverse work as a blacksmith during various shows or so, but, even more important, to talk with him by some wonderful places in our state, being focused on the North Shore and Boundary Waters.
He was a generous person. He insisted to offer me for free my latest request of metalwork, an aspect that I appreciated very much, even because I met enough grasping people in my life…
Kay Geis, my dear wife, is sending to you her sorry, too, for your great loss! She wasn’t able to meet him, but she appreciated so well the wonderful metal artworks made by your dear brother for us.
I will miss a lot my dear friend!
John Bettendorf says
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. The last time I had a conversation with Dean was when he came out to demonstrate his blacksmithing techniques to the Isanti Cub Scout pack, and the boys were mesmerized as he worked. I also knew him as “Brett’s old man” when he visited the hardware store, and he always had a kind word and smile on his face. Sending thoughts and prayers to your family, I know he will be deeply missed.
