Winifred Mary Tormoen was born December 20, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Fred and Joyce (Wauchope) Boxmeyer. She grew up in St Paul, MN
On July 11, 1959 Winifred was united in marriage to Carl “Bud” Tormoen, Jr. in Iowa and they made their first home in St. Paul. In 1973 they moved into the home that Bud built in Bradford Township.
She also enjoyed the many family camping trips they took. Winifred was a member of Karmel Covenant Church.
Winnie loved her family and beamed every time she could talk about her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved birds, dogs and basically every animal she encountered. She was very social, often visiting friends and having breakfast at her favorite restaurant every Friday morning.
Winifred passed away July 8, 2018 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 18 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Boxmeyer and Fred Boxmeyer Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Todd (Lynne) Tormoen and Timothy Tormoen (Chris Rasmussen); grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and Jonathan; and many other members on the Boxmeyer and Tormoen sides of the family, as well as countless friends.
Dear Todd, Tim & families, so sorry to hear about your loss of a wonderful mom and grandmother. Winnie generously provided a memory of her cousin Norma Hayek Baldus when they were both children for last April’s memorial gathering we organized in Oregon. She was a faithful cousin. I found many photos of her in Norma’s personal affairs and Norma spoke affectionately of her.
Sending much love of extended family in this time of sadness,
Anne Hayek
What a dear friend Winnie was. She was so proud of her sons and their families.
I will miss sitting next to her in church as so many will miss her. She missed Bud
so much and was lonesome without him. It is good to think of them together now.
God bless you both.
