Karen Kipka, age 67, of St. Francis died August 26, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 31st at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Oak Grove, 19921 Nightingale Street NW, with visitation beginning at 9:30 at the church.
Karen Amelia Kipka was born November 22, 1950 in St. Cloud to Anthony and Mildred (Bohls) Guggenberger. She was raised in Waite Park and graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School, Class of 1968. On August 29, 1970 Karen married Herbert Kipka, Jr. at St. John Catholic Church in Foley. They made their home in Elk River for 23 years before moving to St. Francis where they have lived for the last 20 years. Karen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Oak Grove. Karen loved her family and her grandchildren were a large part of her life. She also enjoyed traveling, bingo, bicycling, golfing and bowling. Karen loved her friends, laughing and a good story.
Karen died August 26, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Guggenberger. Karen is survived by her husband, Herbert, Jr. of St. Francis; mother, Mildred Guggenberger of Sartell; 3 children, Shawn (Jennifer) Kipka of St. Francis, Michelle (Adam) Lutzke of Rogers, Sherry (Bill) Illies of Albertville; 8 grandchildren, Kori, Owen, Brooklyn, Holly, Lexi, Peter, Carter, Kyla; 1 great-granddaughter, Aubree; 3 siblings, Darrell (Jackie) Guggenberger of Popple Creek, Janice Tofel of Waite Park, Anita (Michael) Petschen of St. Cloud; and by many other relatives and friends.
