Karin Colleen Babb was born on February 12, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Clyde and Audre (Julik) Babb. She was raised in Cambridge, Minnesota, and graduated from Cambridge High School. Karin received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Anoka Ramsey Community College.
Karin lived her life to the fullest. She was a staunch advocate for the underdog and dedicated her career to helping those in need, first at the Cambridge State Hospital, then at Lino Lakes Correctional Facility, and finally with Guild Incorporated. Karin loved biking and served as a cycling coach for the Special Olympics. Karin’s kind heart affected the lives of many people who society had forgotten and filled the gap when no one else did. She had a rare and special gift that will be missed terribly by everyone whose life she touched.
Karin was fiercely loyal to her family and always game for a good adventure, especially with her sisters. Whether Polar Plunging, skydiving, or traveling to beautiful tropical locations, she never said no to a chance to experience something new.
Even with all of Karin’s accomplishments, her true calling was being a grandma. Karin was a loving, doting, caring “Nana.” You were most likely to find Karin at a hockey rink, baseball diamond, or soccer field cheering on her grandkids. Braxton, Ella, and Rylee were the absolute loves of her life.
Karin passed away on September 27, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 59 years young. Karin will be remembered with love by her daughter Danielle (Matt) Ziebarth; grandchildren Braxton, Ella, and Rylee Ziebarth; mother Audre Babb; brother David (Amanda) Babb; sisters Mary Koscielniak, Dina Denne (Tom Look), and Judy (Chris) Welker; 3 nieces, 3 nephews, two great-nieces, two great-nephews, and many cousins and friends. Karin was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Babb.

Such a loss for so many! Karen will forever be remembered as our bball grandma! She loved watching Braxton and all those boys, never missing an opportunity to support them (even if it meant yelling at the ump a little😉) Her kindness and love for her family is what I will always remember. Prayers to the Zeibarth/Babb family in the days and months ahead.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Karin’s passing. I have memories of growing up together, neighborhood games after dark, softball games in the field by the church, being roommates after high school, working at the state hospital and so many more. My heart breaks for the family and you will all be in my prayers in the coming weeks and months.
