Norris “Norry” Sorenson, age 80, of Isanti died October 14, 2018 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti. Privatefamily services will be held.
Norris Lee Sorenson, Jr. was born September 20, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Norris and Elaine (Colburn) Sorenson. At a young age his family moved to Dalbo. On October 17, 1959 Norry married Judy Pratt in Braham. They made their home in Braham until moving to Isanti in the early 1960’s. Norry worked as a police officer in Isanti and in the early 1960’s he was the only officer in town. In those days, police calls were reported through the Creamery, which was open 24 hours/day, and a light was turned on for the officer to see that there was a call for police assistance. Norry also worked as truck driver. From April 1, 1971 – September 30, 1977 he served as a police chief in Princeton and then returned to Isanti and became Police Chief, retiring in 1997 after 33 years in law enforcement. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing with his boys. Norry was well known and loved in the Isanti community and will be missed.

Norry is survived by his five sons; Devery, Wade, Bryce (Beth), Todd (Debbie), and Brent; one sister, Karen; 7 grandchildren, Krista, Becky, Jamie, Justin, Jaclyn, Olivia and Hayden; 5 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Tayler, Cole, Casey and Vera; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, and brother, Glen.

We are saddened by the news of Norry’s passing. I met him a few years ago at Wanda’s for a family gathering . It was fun listening to him, my mom and others reminisce about their young cousin days. I have missed his emails the last couple years. Thinking of his family at this sad time.
